As a relationship counsellor, my professional focus is to help individuals and couples build healthy, rewarding relationships in all aspects of life. I believe the quality of our relationships is at the centre of our life experiences, shaping our identity and affecting our ability to flourish.
Common issues I counsel my clients with include general anxieties, recurring arguments/failure of communication, infidelity, feeling of alienation, sexual problems and parenting concerns. My practice is confidential and non-judgemental, and starts with a free telephone consultation.
By facing and thinking mindfully together about the non-functioning parts of relationships, we can grow resilience, strengthen emotional regulation and attain meaningful communication. I have worked with couples of diverse backgrounds and relationship issues.
Even though all couple relationships go through ups and downs, when there are particularly testing circumstances or when problems seem intractable, couples counselling can be useful in working through issues and restore sense of safety and connection in the relationship.
Another vital relationship is one we have with ourselves. You may have recognised that the feeling of not being good enough is holding you back from achieving goals in life. Or perhaps you have noticed you tend to avoid negative feelings and potential conflicts to the detriment of your own happiness. Exploring these issues and others may help you live more authentically, engage with the world more fully and achieve a firmer sense of purpose and well-being.
When working with couples, I focus on understanding attachment style and the dynamic of emotions as keys to understand destructive patterns and disconnections as well as offering practical strategies to manage stress and conflicts. I am particularly interested in attachment-based counselling for relationships and parenting.
I am fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, so I offer sessions in Mandarin Chinese as well as English.
